The Shilpa Sayura Content Map was developed by analysing the Grade 6–11 curriculum of the National Institute of Education (NIE). Eight core teachers and the project team collaborated to prepare a comprehensive content map of more than 200 pages covering eight subject areas.

The subjects included:

• Music
• Environment

The content map was reviewed by twenty teachers from Swarnamali College together with education professionals. It became the long-term roadmap for Shilpa Sayura and established the framework for aligning future content and self-learning resources with the National Education Curriculum.

Preparation of the Content Map was the first project milestone, enabling the release of the initial grant payment of Rs. 500,000. Although developing the Content Map required considerable effort, it provided a clear direction for the project. We also acknowledge the valuable contribution of the Process Consultant, who recommended introducing the Content Map as an additional project deliverable.

Sinhala	991	Reading materials, literature, folk poems, songs, images, audio and video resources to strengthen Sinhala language skills.
Social Studies	995	Integrated coverage of History, Geography and Citizenship Education based on the 2006 syllabus using text, images, diagrams, audio and video.
Art	700	Learning materials covering traditional and modern art, drawing references and painting techniques.
Dance	1,543	Integrated coverage of Kandyan, Sabaragamuwa and Low Country dance traditions with theory, notation and audio resources.
Music	995	Music theory, folk music, Ragadhari music and Western music supported by audio, photographs and instructional resources.

O/L Examination Preparation

The system includes a multiple-choice examination module containing previous GCE Ordinary Level examination questions and answers. The facility enables students to practise independently using questions from the previous three to five years.

Curriculum Expansion

The original project proposal covered Sinhala, Art, Dance, Music and Social Studies. Following the award of the grant, Science and Mathematics were added, while the revised 2006 curriculum expanded Social Studies into three separate subject areas. Dance content was also extended to include all three recognised traditions, increasing the overall scope of the project.

Content Map Version 2.2 reflects the 2006 GCE Ordinary Level syllabus. As the National Curriculum evolves, the Content Map will continue to be updated with additional content and revisions.
